Heirloom Tendersweet Carrots, known for their exceptional sweetness, are second only to sugar beets in terms of sugar content. The optimal time for harvesting carrots is when the root starts to emerge above the soil.

To ensure successful cultivation, it is crucial to prepare the soil properly. Begin by loosening and aerating the soil at least 3 weeks before the last expected spring frost or when the soil temperature reaches 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Carrots thrive in deeply worked, loose soil, which allows them to reach their full length.

When sowing the seeds, create a raised mound in the row, approximately 8 inches wide. Sow the Tendersweet carrot seeds on the mound and cover them with a thin layer, about 1/4 inch, of very loose soil. Maintain consistent moisture in the soil, but avoid allowing the area above the seeds to become compacted, as this may hinder the germination process.

In cooler climates, it is recommended to sow more Tendersweet carrot seeds every 3 to 6 weeks to ensure a continuous crop. However, in warmer climates, planting may be restricted to spring and fall seasons, as carrots are unable to tolerate excessive heat.
